Gaining international recognition, saxophonist Lachlan McGargill debuts his newest quartet featuring some of Adelaide’s best musicians. Performing all of his own original music, the Lachlan McGargill Quartet presents a well crafted blend of modern and traditional jazz, inspired by some of jazz music’s greatest quartets.

About Lachlan McGargill Quartet

Since returning to Adelaide 2 years ago after completing his bachelors of music at the James Morrison Academy of Music. Lachlan McGargill has quickly become an in demand musician in the Adelaide scene and a recognised young saxophonist Australia wide with his modern jazz influenced approach to music.

Lachlan has formed multiple projects such as The Lachlan McGargill Big Band, Ternion, The NOLA Band which has a jam every month, and his new quartet. He has also been a part of multiple ensembles,  recorded several albums as a sideman, and was accepted into the inaugural Australian National Youth Jazz Orchestra. Along with performing alongside big names like, James Morrison, Will Vinson (NYC), Jacki Cooper, Mat Jodrell, Hindley Street Country Club and many more. He currently also tours Australia with Just Floyd as a vital member for the group.

He was also recently selected as 1 of 25 young jazz musicians in an international jazz competition. He was the only Australian selected for the 7 virtual jazz club competition.e was also part of the Jazz Music Jazz World Orchestra this year, which is a youth big band containing people from all around the world. Because of this Lachlan has toured Italy and Croatia playing with some of the best musicians in the world such as John Riley, Alex Sipiagin, Boris Koslov, and Luis Boinilla.

About the Enne R Project @enneplaysbass

Enne Rignanese is an internationally performing composer, arranger and bassist. Enne has played with musicians including James Morrison, Mat Jodrell, Wycliffe Gordon and Jeff Clayton. In 2016, after their first year of university, they were given the Most Improved award. They performed two national tours with the James Morrison Academy Big Band in 2017 and 2018.

Enne graduated from the James Morrison Academy of Music with a Bachelor of Music (Jazz) in 2018 and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in 2019 after a national tour performing at venues such as The Melbourne Recital Centre and The Governer, Hindmarsh.  They were also one of two musicians in their year selected for an exchange program with the Juilliard School of Music in New York and the University of California, Los Angeles where they performed with the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Fellows at The Blue Whale.

Since moving back to Adelaide in 2020, they’ve performed in various shows at the Adelaide Fringe (2021-2023) and have released their debut album, ‘Pitter Patter’. They were a recipient of the Creative Original Music Adelaide 'Sound Alliance Mentorship Program' (2022-2023) and worked with Lazaro Numa on the exploration of Cuban Music and other Latin genres, composing and performing a set at COMA in 2023. They performed with The New Standards at the Adelaide Festival Centre in 2023, where they were announced as the recipient of COMA’s Emerging Writers Award for 2023. They have since recorded their second album, ‘Aw, Tysm’, which they will be performing a variety of tunes from that album at Queens Theatre with their septet project.
