SONS OF ZÖKU
Experimental South Australian band SONS OF ZÖKU are known for their raw, world-influenced psychedelic sound, transcending the mainstream by blending elements of rock and folk with global music traditions, folding sitar and flute melodies into distinctive vocal hooks, rhythmic chanting, and upbeat, layered percussion.
The 6-piece Adelaide collective features Portuguese-born Ricardo Da Silva and Ica Quintela, along with Australian-born Jordan Buck, Oscar Ellery, Hannah Yates and Luke Swann.
After their 2018 debut EP Can Dead Dance, SONS OF ZÖKU released three singles before dropping their debut full-length SÜN in 2021, whose lead single “Sacred” was featured on Seattle’s iconic KEXP radio station. Named “Album of the Year” by Sydney radio's 2SER program Sideways Through Sound, SÜN was released to vinyl courtesy of London-based label Copper Feast Records in 2022.
Selected as “Most Popular Experimental Artist” at the South Australian Music Awards for five years running, word spread of their live sonic offerings, leading to a spot performing at WOMADelaide 2023 (featuring Florence & The Machine, Bon Iver, Angel Olson, and Mdou Moctar), and appearances at a slew of other festivals across Australia.
In their recent new release of their sophomore album ËNDLËSS, SONS OF ZÖKU explore dynamics and repetition, drawing listeners deeper into their cohesive yet kaleidoscopic sound. The result is a modern, manifolded album that teems with the energy of change.
BJÉAR
Bjéar has been crafting music that reflects the deeper things in life for half a decade now; the feelings that words fail to express. Ever-evolving and always collaborating, Bjéar’s sound ranges from cinematic-folk to experimental electronic music – music for every season – a soundtrack for life. Conceived deep in the lush hills of South Australia by Brae McKee, this project has and will continue to evolve, expand, and unfold.
DIETER HORVAT
Multi-award winning folk musician.
Starting a career in music as a drunken fluke, Dieter’s first shows were on opening on tour for Victorian folk singer James MCQ—whom he’d only met only once, months earlier in an Open mic night. In dire straits, he learned to busk- and also where best to discretely pitch a tent and avoid trouble.
Returning to his home city of Adelaide, Dieter has accrued a small collection of writing and performance awards, plus worked as the Frontman of the rock project “The Sundials”.
Dieter now looks to release a debut EP and return to the road, where his career started. (He’s inspired by the likes of -of course- Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan—and more recently John Martyn and Nick Drake).
