6 - 8 March | Adelaide Fringe | Overture
Adelaide Fringe 2025
A whimsical journey unveiling the palpable moments before the curtain rises and the performance begins. This immersive contemporary dance work disrupts the theatrical norms, allowing spectators a glimpse backstage into the intricate tapestry of a private moment, amplifying the seemingly mundane. 'Overture' pulls back the curtain, inviting us to see the art before the art - an exquisite portrayal of the lives, dreams, torments of all those involved in the creation of a show.
What defines performance - Is it merely the audience's presence, or could it encompass the moments before and after ‘the show’? Perhaps life itself could be considered a perpetual performance, blurring the lines of identity and reality. An overture where the first note is the final...how do we define beginning and end?
'Overture' is a roaming show that requires audience to travel through the backstage spaces of the theatre to experience each scene- there may be areas of darkness. Chairs will be offered in each space as an option to standing. Ushers will be on site.

From 18 Feb | Adelaide Festival | Hedwig and The Angry Inch
The Berlin Wall may have fallen, but the revolution is just beginning.
“The best rock musical ever” (Rolling Stone) and winner of the Tony Award as Best Revival of a Musical, this genre-bending, fourth-wall-smashing sensation is no ordinary musical. It’s a wickedly funny, sweat soaked lightning strike of raw energy and liberation. In this new Australian production, its primal scream of rage, lust, and survival feels like an anthem for the chaos of existence.
The incomparable Seann Miley Moore — recently celebrated for their role-defining take on The Engineer in Miss Saigon — transforms into the character of Hedwig, a fractured, hedonistic, anti-heroine ready to break every rule.
Enter Hedwig’s world, where love is a weapon and means of escape, and the only way out is through the fire. They are pure electricity — dangerous, seductive, sassy and hard to resist. A fever dream of lost love and self-discovery, Hedwig is torn between an idealistic vision of love and tolerance and a relentless desire to burn the house down. Rebellion wrapped in fishnets and fury.
With a killer live band, blazing rock anthems, and heart-pounding performances, Hedwig and the Angry Inch knows no conventional boundaries. Gritty, twisted and full of sardonic humour, Hedwig rips into the heart of gender, power and sacrifice with a joyous defiance which has made it one of the great musicals of all time.
