Swing Workshop
Swing That Thing is hosting an event featuring two workshops with world-class teachers flown in especially for the occasion. The event, which is co-hosted by The Adelaide Jazz Festival and The Queens Theatre, includes 4 hours of non-stop dancing with the Sydney Swing Kats, covering fundamental, foundational, intermediate and advanced dancing techniques, aerials, and dips.
The first workshop runs from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and covers the fundamentals and foundations of Lindy Hop, with the second hour dedicated to aerials and dips. The second workshop runs from 12:15 pm to 2:15 pm and covers more advanced dancing techniques and movements, building on the foundations learned in the previous workshop. It includes more complex air and dips, and attendees must have attended the first workshop to attend this one.
The day ends with a sensational evening of social dancing at The Queens Theatre, featuring two live swing bands and delicious cocktails all night. Doors open at 4 pm, with Lucky Seven Swing performing from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm and Swing Quartet performing from 7:00 pm until late.
Pricing options include a full package with entry to both workshops and the evening social, workshops only, workshop and social, and social only. The first 30 registered for the full package receive a discounted price, and tickets are non-refundable but transferable. Attendees must register with a partner for the workshops, and those attending workshop 2 must have attended workshop 1.
The event is held at GWB Studios for the workshops and The Queens Theatre for the evening social. Students are advised to wear very slippery shoes or socks for the dance section of the workshops, and to pack their own lunch and water bottle as the break between workshops is short. Attendees must arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the workshops. Teacher spotlights will be announced soon, so keep an eye on the event page for more information.
